Terms of Use

The rules for using Study Parrot.

Effective November 4, 2026.

These terms govern your use of the Study Parrot iPhone app and the website studyparrot.app (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Preston Research LLC (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

1. What Study Parrot is

Study Parrot is a planning and focus tool. It helps you schedule study time, run focus sessions, track points and streaks, and optionally email a weekly progress report to people you choose.

Study Parrot is not tutoring, test preparation content, or academic advice, and it doesn’t guarantee any grade, score, or result.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.

3. Your account

You sign in with Apple or with an emailed code. Keep access to your Apple ID and email secure; you’re responsible for activity on your account. Only add parent email addresses of people who have agreed to receive the weekly report.

4. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • Use the Service to send email to anyone who hasn’t agreed to receive it.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure, or interfere with its operation.
  • Reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
  • Use the Service to break the law.

5. App Store terms

The app is licensed to you through Apple’s App Store under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and these terms add to it. Apple isn’t responsible for the Service or its support.

6. Subscriptions

Planning, the focus timer, and points and streaks are free. The Parents tab, including weekly parent reports and other parent features, requires an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or annually through your Apple ID.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
  • Renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancelling. Manage or cancel any time in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We can’t issue App Store refunds directly.
  • Price changes take effect only at a renewal, and Apple notifies you beforehand as required.

7. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The app, the Study Parrot name, the parrot mascot, and this website are owned by Preston Research LLC. Your plans and study data remain yours.

SAT and PSAT are trademarks of the College Board, and ACT is a trademark of ACT, Inc. Study Parrot isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by either.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that reminders and emails will always be delivered.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Preston Research LLC won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service won’t exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the effective date above, and for material changes we’ll let you know in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located there.
